Gabriel’s Oboe

Here is the sheet music for my arrangement of Gabriel’s Oboe by Ennio Morricone from the film The Mission. I have arranged this piece for solo euphonium accompanied by a euphonium quintet. I have included the sib5 file, midi file, and Pdfs of the Score and bass and treble clef parts.

NOTE: I would not recommend playing the 5th part in treble as it goes quite low.

Really appreciate your arrangements. I’m going to try to play them with my friends in the band. Big thanks for sharing them !!

Note that Gabriel’s Oboe – Euph.5-TC has 2 more flats than the other parts. I think there was a mix-up with the BC part.

Excellent arrangement, I appreciate the time you put into this, but I noticed that for the TC and BC parts, the solo and first four parts all are 3 flats, but for BC it should logically be 5 flats. I just wondered if you were aware of that. Nevertheless, you are an awesome arranger!

  3. David says:

well done dude. I love it. I will try it too.

I can’t tell you how happy I am! We played this in my school’s orchestra (I’m 13) and I played the first violin part. But I loved the solo. and I could not fin a free version of the sheet music ANYWHERE. So thank you:) but one thing, in the solo, the notes are each one note too high. BUT, it sounds nicer this way:) thanks!

My band director brought my attention to this piece of music and i am glad she did. My Band director is Mrs. Gail Griggs of Greenwood High School of Greenwood Mississippi. I have unfortunetly run into a problem the isnt a score for the bass cleft parts. Now on to my enthuasiasm, I am going to attempt this piece due to the fact that it calms me in a way that only music can. Thanks agagin for this arrangement.

Hey just at first glance, either the bass clef part is off, or the treble part is. For instance, say the actuall part is bass cleff, with 3 flats, TC should only have 1 flat and should start on a C (Concert Bb). i’m going with ear to see which one is right, but just to let you know so you can change it for other people

    Love Gabriel’s Oboe!
Thanks for the euphonium arrangement. Much appreciated!

Question: Would you happen to have the euphonium solo and score available in the same key as performed by David Child’s on YouTube?

    Thank you again!

    • Chris Harrison says:

I know this post was forever ago, but for anyone that wants to know David Child’s version was a half step down from Jackshoeys. Not nearly as good in my opinion though

Merci pour ce travail assez rare pour euphonium

    very good

  21. Robert says:

Several have noted the issue with key signatures. The ones I checked out seemed to be that when a TC staff was changed to BC, only the clef sign was changed but notes were left on same lines as the TC. I’d take the .sib file and fix it easily, but cannot get that page to open! Not that big a deal to re-do in your own software–such a wonderful arrangement!
